Priorities for the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union

With a New Year comes a new Presidency! FoodDrinkEurope has published a short brochure outlining the food and drink industry's priorities under the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union which runs from 1 January until 31 July 2012.

This includes calls to implement the Europe 2020 Strategy's objectives to secure smart, sustainable and inclusive growth for Europe's food industry. It also looks at how innovation is instrumental to increasing the industry's competitiveness, explains how additional taxes on food and drink products are regressive and have a negative impact on lower income consumers and asked the Presidency to promote energy efficiency, incentivising energy efficient technologies such as combined heat and power.
