Forest protection

Covering about one third of the planet’s land space, forests provide habitats for around 80 percent of all forms of life and are essential to mitigating climate change. Yet they are disappearing at an alarming rate; since 1990, an estimated 420 million hectares have been converted to other land uses, mainly agriculture.

As major purchasers of crops, Europe’s food and drink industry relies on healthy ecosystems. We are committed to a deforestation-free food supply chain, with no forest degradation and no destruction of natural habitats.
