Background

Wholegrain and fibre

A high-fibre diet can help maintain bowel health and control blood sugar, lower cholesterol and achieve a healthy weight. Yet, the majority of European adults do not consume adequate fibre. Wholegrain products are good sources of fibre as well as foods with fibre added, such as cereal, granola bars and yogurt. By offering these products, food businesses can play an essential role in consumer nutrition.

We will soon publish our guidance document on wholegrain and fibre.
