At McCain, we believe good ethics is good business. It guides our family company- who we are, what we do and how we do it. The result is good food, simply made.

We believe everyone can enjoy our food as part of a healthy, balanced diet. Recognising that our consumers want food that’s convenient and nutritious, we continuously invest in reformulation programmes and new product innovation.

Over the last decade, our reformulation programme has seen us reduce added-salt by 23% across our European portfolio and this is mirrored by a 22% reduction in the UK.

Furthermore, between 2006 and 2012, we reduced saturated fat within our European products by 73% through cooking our products in sunflower oil.

Product innovation complements our reformulation work. Our most recent launches include McCain Ready Baked Jackets in the UK and our McCain chilled product range available in France, Germany, along with our Celavita product sold in the Netherlands, all of which offer nutritionally balanced products.

We work across sectors, including retail and foodservice, to provide product solutions for operators, such as our steam-blanched product range that offers an oil-free alternative to foodservice operators and customers, and ensures that potato can be served as part of a balanced diet.

By offering full nutritional information and clear cooking instructions on our packaging and online, we support our consumers to make informed purchasing decisions and encourage best practice cooking methods with our out of home customers.

Our development focus includes:
• Continuing to strive to reduce saturated fat levels
• Developing new batter recipes that reduce fat levels in fried product
• Reducing added-salt
• Continuing to support cooking best practice
