Responding to the consumer demand, Valio has started a sugar reduction project in July 2015, where the target is to reduce the amount of sugar in dairy snacks with 50% until the year 2020 – without losing the good taste.
We will double the amount of less sugar containing snacks – natural, unflavored, sugar-free and 20-50% less sugar containing snack products – from 2015 to 2020. In July 2015, when Valio started its sugar reduction project, the company had 84 products with less or no added sugar. Our goal is 168 products with less sugar or no added sugar.
Valio’s less sugar product portfolio includes several options, ranging from flavored and unflavored yoghurts to high protein quarks and milk based drinks, juice drinks and berry soups, as well as plant based products. The reduced sugar amount varies between 20-50% in these products compared to other similar products on the market, or they contain no added sugar at all.
By the end of the year 2017, the amount of these products has increased to 136.
