New leadership and website for the AFCC: Call for change of mind-set on innovation

The Agri-Food Chain Coalition (AFCC) appointed Roxane Feller, Secretary General of IFAH-Europe (International Federation of Animal Health-Europe) as its new Chair today. She will lead this multi-stakeholder group throughout 2017 to enhance understanding of the European agri-food chain sector’s important role and contribution to an innovative and sustainable Europe.

The Supply Chain Initiative makes it easier for micro and small enterprises to join

As a further encouragement to micro and small enterprises [1] to join the Supply Chain Initiative (SCI), the Governance Group has decided to further simplify the procedure for their registration. Since 1st September, micro and small enterprises only need to register to show their commitment to the initiative and the principles; they are no longer asked to conduct a preliminary self-assessment, to appoint an independent contact point to deal with complaints or to carry out training. Moreover, they are invited to take part in the survey but this is no longer compulsory.

SCI one year on: Keeping the momentum

The Supply Chain Initiative (SCI) publishes its first Annual Report on the occasion of a conference held at the European Parliament. The SCI was launched a year ago to bring together all actors of the food supply chain and work towards fairer trading practices. Participating companies subscribe on a voluntary basis to a set of commitments to ensure fair treatment of all partners in the food supply chain. The SCI is designed to ensure that once companies have signed up, they respect their commitments towards other market actors.
