FoodDrinkEurope released its annual facts and figures brochure entitled Data & trends of the European Food and Drink Industry 2010 in May. As one of Europes most diverse industries with over 310,000 companies and a total revenue of 954 billion, the brochure contains key statistics divided into four sections, Structure of the Industry, Trade with non-EU countries, Markets and Consumption and World Trends.
Data and Trends of the European Food and Drink Industry 2009 contains key facts and figures, providing an overview of the entire sector. For example, in 2008, the total revenue of Europes food and drink industry was 965 billion and total direct employment was 4.4 million. It finds that the EU was the largest exporter and importer in food and drink products worldwide, with a trade surplus of 1.1 billion in 2008. The brochure also contains key data on R&D and innovation and ranks over leading international food companies.
'Data and Trends of the European Food and Drink Industry 2008' provides an overview of the entire sector for the period 2006-2007, and is divided into three sections: Structure of the Industry, Markets and Consumption and World Trends. It finds the industry is the EUs largest manufacturing sector and it details, for example, how turnover increased by 27 billion from 2006 to 2007 and employment stood at 4.3 million.
