FoodDrinkEurope takes note of the outcome of today’s vote by the European Parliament on the EU Regulation on Deforestation-free products (EUDR).
Europe’s food and drink makers are already taking steps to mitigate and minimise the risk of deforestation in their supply chains while mobilising significant resources to prepare for compliance with the EUDR.
While the outcome of today’s vote unfortunately brings new uncertainties, we now call on the negotiating parties to prioritise the preservation of the proposed additional transition period and its swift adoption, in order to provide legal certainty regarding the date of application.
