Manager, Consumer Information

We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and committed Manager to join our Consumer Information, Nutrition & Health team. The Manager will oversee our activities on consumer information and represent FoodDrinkEurope to our stakeholders.

Job description

Reporting to the Director of the Consumer Information, Nutrition & Health Department, your main tasks will be to:

  • Coordinate the development of positions, responses to consultations, guidance documents, technical briefings etc. to help drive the European food and drink industry’s activity in the area of food labelling (including nutrition and health claims);
  • Develop advocacy plans and represent FoodDrinkEurope to external stakeholders, including the EU institutions.
  • Prepare and facilitate meetings of relevant FoodDrinkEurope Working Groups and follow up on agreed actions;
  • Monitor and analyse regulatory and policy developments in the area of consumer information at EU and international level;
  • Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with members and key stakeholders;
  • Provide clear and concise information to internal and external audiences;
  • Assist FoodDrinkEurope members with ‘day-to-day’ questions on EU policy and regulatory issues in the area of consumer information;
  • Support the Consumer Information, Nutrition & Health Director in achieving the goals of the Department, and the organisation in general.

Skills and experience required

  • University degree in law, European studies, or political science;
  • Excellent knowledge of the EU institutions and the EU decision making process;
  • Relevant experience in the food industry or in an industrial or trade association context – knowledge/experience in the area of food labelling is an asset;
  • Min. 3 years of work experience in EU public affairs (e.g. policy analysis, preparation of position papers, engagement plans, etc)
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills;
  • Ability to achieve compromises and develop consensus among diverging opinions;
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English, other EU languages are an advantage; 
  • Result-oriented team player, proactive, well organised and able manage different priorities/deadlines when working independently.
