Sustainability Manager
FoodDrinkEurope is looking for an exceptional candidate to guide the organisation’s work on sustainability policy, in particular related to climate resilience, sustainability reporting and due diligence.
As part of its Environment & Sustainability Department, this exciting and high-profile opportunity is open to well-connected candidates with expertise in climate change and food sustainability policy.
The successful candidate will be energetic, motivated and have a passion to work towards delivering more sustainable food systems within a dynamic and diverse international team and together with members and partners of FoodDrinkEurope.
FoodDrinkEurope is the leading organisation for the European food and drink manufacturing sector, one of the EU’s largest manufacturing industries, made up of more than 300,000 businesses and 4.7 million employees.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
- Develop, guide and implement FoodDrinkEurope’s strategy to help the European food and drink be competitive and sustainable. The role will cover topics including environmental policy, sustainable sourcing, climate resilience and sustainability reporting and due diligence.
- Prepare, manage and follow-up on FoodDrinkEurope working groups in charge of the above issues.
- Engage, collaborate and build positive relationships with the EU institutions and other key stakeholders.
- Represent FoodDrinkEurope at events and official meetings, delivering public speaking in political events and institutional fora.
- Provide regular updates, briefings, and contribute to publications for FoodDrinkEurope members and other target audiences.
- Support the Environment and Sustainability Director in achieving the goals of the Department, and the organisation in general.
Qualifications
- University degree related to environment, climate resilience and sustainable food systems and/or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of work experience in EU public affairs related to climate resilience, environmental policy, specifically related to sustainable food systems as well as sustainability reporting and due diligence.
Skills and competencies
- Excellent writing, communication, networking and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to align different interests and influence the political process.
- Affinity with the food and drink sector.
- Fluent English, other EU languages an asset.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
