Providing the right information to consumers in a clear and reliable manner can empower them to play a bigger role in the transition to more sustainable food system. Knowing what’s in our food and how nutritious it is essential but so is knowing how sustainable it is too.

Many companies across the food and drink industry are currently using the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology – an approach developed by the European Commission and supported by the industry – for evaluating the environmental footprint of a product and providing product environmental information to consumers.
